About Jen Connors

I am a counsellor whose work focuses on supporting people navigating traumatic grief and sudden loss, offering a compassionate and non-judgemental space to process complex emotions. I hold a Bachelor of Psychology and a Graduate Diploma of Counselling, and I support individuals facing some of the most painful and life-altering experiences a person can encounter.

My work is informed not only by professional training, but also by lived experience of grief, trauma, and survival. I have experienced traumatic loss in my own life, including the devastating death of a child as well as other life altering events. I understand how suddenly things can change in an instant and how overwhelming grief can feel when the circumstances surrounding a loss are traumatic or unexpected.

Like many people who have experienced profound loss and trauma, I have also faced periods of intense despair and struggled to find ways to cope with the depth of emotional pain that grief can bring. During those times, what I longed for most was not someone who spoke only from textbooks or theory, but someone who truly understood — someone who could sit beside me in the pain without judgement.

That experience shapes the way I approach counselling today.

My work is grounded in compassion, honesty, and deep respect for the courage it takes to speak about grief and trauma. I understand that when someone reaches out for support, they may feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure whether anything can help.

In counselling sessions, I offer a safe and supportive space where people can talk openly about their experiences — whether they are navigating child loss, loss of a partner or loved one, suicide loss, overdose loss, sudden death, traumatic circumstances surrounding loss, or other forms of profound grief.

I believe people deserve to be supported with both professional knowledge and genuine human understanding. Grief can feel isolating, particularly when the loss is sudden or traumatic. My aim is to sit alongside clients as they process their experiences, make sense of complex emotions, and develop ways to navigate life after loss.

While grief changes us, it is possible to find ways to move forward with support, understanding, and compassion.

You do not have to navigate this journey alone.
